How to keep your wallet safe

With self-custody, only you control your money — not even Sling Money can access your wallet

Updated today

A self-custody wallet means you have full control over your money

Unlike traditional banks or other apps, no one else — not even Sling Money — can access your money. Always double-check the recipient before sending money. Once a payment is completed, we cannot reverse it or return the money.

You can always export your private key and move your money to other compatible wallets, such as Phantom. This means your wallet and your money always stay in your control, no matter where you go.

Your Sling Wallet is secured using industry-leading technology

This includes:

1. Secure enclave (iPhone) or Trusted Execution Environment (Android)
Your cryptographic key is stored in a protected area of your device that is isolated from the rest of the system.

2. Biometric protection

Access to your wallet is protected by your biometrics (Face ID or your fingerprint).

3. Encrypted backup

Your key is backed up securely through Evervault, so you can recover it if you lose or change your device.

How to keep your wallet safe

  • Never share your private keys electronically

    • Do not send them via email, text, or any messaging app

    • If someone gains access to your private key, they have full control of your wallet

  • Safeguard your private keys

    • Consider storing them in an encrypted hardware wallet or a physical safe

    • Treat them like you would treat important documents

  • Plan for the unexpected

    • Document your wallet address, private keys, recovery phrases, and specific instructions for managing your money after you die

    • Use a trusted, secure method for communicating this information, such as engaging with a lawyer experienced in cryptocurrency estate planning.

    • Taking these measures will help safeguard your assets and provide clarity for handling them in the future.

🚨 Important

If you lose your private key or recovery phrases, your money may be permanently lost.

Sling Money will never ask you to share sensitive details such as passwords or wallet key codes with us or anyone else.

Do not share personal or financial information with individuals claiming to represent Sling Money, even if they seem trustworthy. If you encounter suspicious activity, report it immediately in the app or contact support.
