Understanding your wallet keys
Your Sling Money Wallet is self-custodial, meaning you, and only you, control your money.
Every wallet has two keys: a public key and a private key.
Public key
Your public key is your wallet’s public address, a long string of letters and numbers.
It’s what others use to send you money, and it’s safe to share.
Think of it as your email address for digital currency; people can see it, but can’t access your money through it.
Private key
Your private key is the secret code that gives full access to your wallet. Whoever has it can move or withdraw your money. That’s why it’s essential to keep it private, never share it with anyone, not even Sling Money.
If someone gains access to your private key, they could take control of your wallet.
Keeping your keys safe
We understand that managing keys can feel complex. That’s why Sling Money includes built-in tools and works with trusted technology partners to help you store and protect your private key safely.
