Why do you require SSN for onboarding?

Find out why Sling Money asks for your Social Security Number (SSN) when you sign up

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Why an SSN is required

If you are a U.S. resident, Sling Money requires your Social Security Number (SSN) to:

  • Verify your identity, and

  • Comply with U.S. financial regulations.

Our system uses secure databases to match your SSN with the information you provide. This ensures a safe and seamless onboarding process and helps protect your account from identity fraud.

When your SSN may be needed again

Your SSN may also be required for:

  • Withdrawing funds to a U.S. bank account, or

  • Tax reporting purposes, depending on U.S. laws.

If an SSN is required but not provided, your account may face certain limitations.

Keeping your data secure

Sling Money takes data protection and privacy seriously. Your SSN is encrypted and stored securely, following strict industry and regulatory standards.

If you have any questions or concerns about how your information is handled, please contact Sling Money Support, we’re here to help.
